Tips & Advice

Gas prices always go up in the summer. Combat those prices with a few tips:

  • Driving safely saves gas. Speeding, rapid acceleration and braking can lower gas mileage by about 1/3 on the highway and 5% around town.
  • Avoid idling whenever possible and remove any excess weight in the car.
  • Use cruise control on the highway. Maintaining a constant speed in most cases saves gas.
  • Overdrive gears also save gas and reduce engine wear. Engine speed goes down when the car is in o-drive.
  • Keep tires properly inflated. Replace tires as needed.

And to keep yourself running smoothly, try a Sweet Strawberry Smoothie

  • 4 frozen juice ice cubes (we used lemonade)
  • 6 strawberries + 2 saved for garnish
  • 1 banana
  • Use the Ice Crush setting on blender until blended
  • Add 1/4 tsp vanilla
  • Use the Stir setting or mix setting for about 30 seconds.
  • Garnish with strawberries!

“Upon moving to Petaluma 13 years ago, one of my biggest concerns was how to find a mechanic I could trust. Then I discovered Dave's Auto Repair and my worries were over. Dave has been taking care of my cars since. I trust him thoroughly and will continue to use his services for all my cars.”
